Local Insurance Broker Presents at National Conference
Written by Sadie Butcher, Correspondent
2018-07-19

Local insurance broker and owner of Senior Insurance Solutions Howard Peck attended Medicare Supplement Industry Summit, a national conference that took place

Local insurance broker and owner of Senior Insur-

ance Solutions Howard Peck was recently a guest

speaker at Medicare Supplement Industry Summit,

a national conference.

from June 12-14, where he delivered a presentation regarding Medicare educational seminars. After being contacted by the conference organizers, Peck, a Pennsburg resident of 26 years, traveled to St. Louis, Missouri, to attend the conference and deliver a presentation about the benefits of doing Medicare educational seminars. There were over 500 people in attendance, a mix of insurance companies, brokers, and vendors. Other presentation topics included 2019 Medicare trends, Pricing Medicare Supplement insurance, the latest Legislative & NAIC changes impacting Medigap, the latest technology solutions being used, and much more.

After the summit, Howard says, he received nearly twenty phone calls from brokers that saw his presentation and were requesting his guidance. "They wanted to know if I had any materials available that could help them do these seminars, so I decided to put together a 'how-to' manual to offer to other brokers."

Peck has been holding free 'Medicare Made Easy' Seminars throughout the area since 2009. He speaks to Community Groups, Senior Centers and at local libraries. He currently holds about twenty-five each year.

When people turn 65, if they are receiving retirement benefits from Social Security, they become automatically enrolled in Medicare Parts A and B, which Peck calls "amazing health insurance – except it only covers eighty percent of all your costs." His job is to link clients to insurance companies that offer supplemental plans that take care of the remaining twenty percent.

In less than 10 years, Senior Insurance Solutions has acquired over 1,200 clients, which he credits in part to the many seminars that he holds. "I meet people at the seminars, and they like me, and I acquire a tremendous amount of new clients."

For 20 years, Peck owned a company that provided businesses with coffee machines and supplies, which was sold in 2007. The following year, he searched for another career, and chose the insurance industry because he saw that it was a large industry with a lot of opportunity. He was unsure which kind of insurance he wanted to sell – homeowner's, life, auto – until he found out about Medicare supplements. "I saw a tremendous need for folks going on Medicare that needed clear, articulated information from brokers like myself," Howard says, "and who needed to be shown options in regards to what Medicare supplement plans are out there."

As an Independent Licensed Broker since 2005, Peck offers in-home appointments, application processing, and quarterly newsletters. While Howard deals with clients, his wife Nancy runs the office. Senior Insurance Solutions has official hours Monday through Saturday from 9am-5pm, but Howard is always on call should issues or concerns arise.

Howard provides expert guidance for those who are turning 65, over 65 and soon to retire, under 65 and on disability, or whose annual enrollment changes.
