Taylor Lindsay tossed seven shutout innings despite allowing nine hits to lead Upper Perkiomen to its second straight District One Class 4A softball championship. The senior pitched her team to a 1-0 victory over Pope John Paul II on Wednesday in the district title game.
Lindsay, who stranded nine base runners and surrendered at least one hit in every inning, registered five strikeouts to make an unearned run in the first inning stand up for the Indians (17-4) at Immaculata University.
Karlee Fretz drove in the game's only run on a single. Her bloop hit down the left field line scored Morgan Lindsay, who worked a one-out walk and advanced to third on an errant throw by Panthers second baseman Gabby Simms on Taylor Lindsay's ground ball.
Ashley Remington, Pope John Paul II's pitcher, limited Upper Perkiomen to a season-low two hits.
The Indians will open play against the No. 2 seed from District 2 on Monday at a site and time to be determined. Tunkhkannock (12-3) will take on Nanticoke in the District 2 title game at 4:30 p.m. Friday at Wilkes University.
