One hurdle has been cleared in the pursuit of a liquor license by Tosco's, located at 301 Main St. in Red Hill.
Owner Anthony Tosco appeared at the Red Hill Borough Council meeting on Wednesday, December 13, for a public hearing regarding his request for a resolution supporting his application for an economic development liquor license with the state liquor control board.
The business presently has eight employees, but Tosco anticipates an additional five or six with the license. He also anticipates adding an extension of 500- to 600-square feet with tables to seat about 30 customers, though he has not yet consulted with the borough engineers. Wine and beer would be served in-store. Tosco said the hours would 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
This type of liquor license is not transferable. Tosco said he is looking into purchasing the adjacent property, the former Main Street Inn, if it becomes available, and would want to use the license at that location.
At approximately 6:50 p.m. the council adjourned for a five-minute executive session. The council granted approval of the resolution with the understanding that Tosco agrees to conditions in the resolution.
In other news, the borough council approved a new fee schedule for permits and inspections.
The January regular borough council meeting will be held on January 17 at 7 p.m.
