William “Bill” Edward Staub
2017-12-15

William "Bill" Edward Staub, 89, of Red Hill, PA passed away after a

short illness on Tuesday, December 12th at Grand View Hospital while surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Plymouth Meeting, PA on November 7, 1928 to the late John Adam and Mary Laura (Oberle) Staub.

Bill was a gifted mechanic who truly loved to build and fix things, whether it was three-quarter midgets, airplanes or model trains. He enjoyed playing cards and bocce at Walnut Meadows in Harleysville. He was a Mason for 41 years, with membership at Perkiomen Lodge 595. A huge sports fan, Bill especially loved football and baseball, and we are sorry he won't be able to continue cheering for the Eagles this season.

Bill was preceded in death by two wonderful women: his wife of 58 years, Claire Alice (Coffey) in 2007, and his companion of 8 years, Hannah Moyer in April, 2017. He was also predeceased by his sister Laura Staub Donley and brothers Joseph, John "Jack", and George Staub and their spouses.

He leaves behind his children: Jo Anne (John) Peterson of Durham, NC, Donna Searchfield and her partner Dave Zinn of Phoenixville, PA, and Tracy (Kevin) Reid of Fort Valley, GA; his sister, Mira Staub Erhardt of North Carolina; his 6 grandchildren, Christopher, Daniel, Jennifer, Rachael, Jaime, and Rebecca; three great-grandchildren, Kayden, Reed and Oscar; his honorary son and daughter, Michael and Barbara (Moyer) Rokosz of Quakertown, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A celebration of Bill's life will be held this summer when all his scattered children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews can gather in Pennsylvania.
