Jean Nellabe (Metzger) Parks, Nee Chauncey
2017-10-30

            Jean Nellabe (Metzger) Parks, 95, returned to her maker on October 15th, 2017 in East Greenville, PA. She was formerly of North Salem and Indianapolis, IN. Born in Dunlop, Iowa, December 25, 1921, she was the eldest of three children born to the late Joseph and Hortense Chauncey.

            She was a 1939 graduate of Cicero High School in Chicago. Jean earned her Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education and English from the University of Iowa and then earned her Master's in Education from Butler University in Indianapolis. During that time, she taught at Pittsboro HS and then Western Boone HS, both in Indiana.

            She married Charles J. Metzger (WWII veteran) and Harold Parks, both whom preceded her in death. Jean's son Mark Chauncey Metzger, a Vietnam Veteran, died in 1996.

            Jean is survived by her daughters Amy Metzger Simmers of North Salem, IN, and Gail Frances Metzger of East Greenville, PA; two brothers, JB Chauncey of Clear Lake, Iowa and Robert Chauncey and his wife Joan of Lake in the Hills, IL; two grandchildren: Christina D. Metzger of Boise, Idaho, and Nick Q. Metzger Zionsville, Indiana; and two great grandchildren: Taylor and Abigayle Metzger.

            Services will be held privately. Her final resting place will be at Salford Mennonite Church in Harleysville, PA. Visit her "Book of Memories" at falkfuneralhomes.com.
