Upper Perkiomen BPW Announces 2017-18 Employer of the Year

In appreciation of a local business who has contributed most to the employment, advancement, and recognition of women, the Upper Perkiomen

Business and Professional Women 2017-18 Employer of the Year is awarded to Upper Perkiomen Valley YMCA.

The Upper Perkiomen Valley YMCA is an integral part of the community serving Pennsburg, East Greenville, Green Lane, Hereford, Palm, and the surrounding areas. The Upper Perkiomen Valley YMCA is a branch of the Philadelphia Freedom Valley YMCA with a focus on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Not only are they a staple in our community, they truly support the mission of Upper Perkiomen BPW by contributing to the advancement of women.

The YMCA currently employs 157 women. They have hired 34 women since 2017 and promoted nine women to key positions since January 2017.

In addition to the promotion, support, and empowerment of women, the Upper Perk YMCA is a place for us to stay active and healthy, it offers a safe environment for our youth, and is a place to volunteer and develop new friendships in the community.

The YMCA offers a wide range of programs for children and teens including swim lessons, sports, fitness, karate, and day camps. For adults and seniors, they have an Active Older Adults program, personal training, and a variety of group exercise classes, water aerobics, and free babysitting services. They have a Livestrong Program for cancer survivors, diabetes prevention programs, a YMCA Achievers Program for the youth and many other strong programs that offer support and the promotion of healthy living. They offer scholarships for swim lessons, summer camps, and memberships to local community members.

It is evident that the YMCA is committed to helping our community members learn, grow, and thrive and we are fortunate to have such an asset and strong organization in the Upper Perkiomen Valley.
