Michael T. Rickert, 68, of Sicklerville, NJ, formerly of Pennsburg, PA passed

away suddenly on September 28, 2017 at Kennedy University Hospital in Turnersville, NJ.

            Born in Allentown, PA, he was the son of the late Theodore J. and Viola M. (Zepp) Rickert.

            He was the husband of Debra M. (Bradley) Rickert formerly of Old Town, ME. They were married 44 years – April 7, 1973.

            Michael was a 1967 Graduate of Upper Perkiomen High School. He played football, basketball, and baseball. He was a member of the 1966 Buxmont Football Championship football team and was a three year letterman in varsity football. . In September he was inducted into the Upper Perkiomen Football Hall of Fame.  

            Michael was a 1971 Graduate of The Pennsylvania State University majoring in Political Science. As an undergraduate, he was active in Student Government and Fraternity life. He was the president of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity for two years, Secretary-Treasurer of the Penn State Interfraternity Council, a member of Parma Nous Honor Society, and a recipient of the Outstanding Senior Award (One of Fifty seniors) his senior year.

            Upon graduation from Penn State in 1971, Michael embarked on a 28 Year Career with Sears Holding Corporation. He worked in Allentown, PA, Rockland, ME, Albany, NY, Oneonta, NY, Burlington, VT, Lewiston, ME, and White Plains, NY. His last assignment with Sears was as Store Manager in Bangor, ME for 9 years. He retired from Sears in 1999 and relocated to Pennsylvania.

            He began a second career and was a Store Manager for 10 years for Staples in Reading, PA.  He retired in 2010.  He currently was employed with Crossmark as a part-time retail representative since 2011.

            Surviving along with his wife, are two sons, Michael C. Rickert and wife, Kimberly of Williamstown, NJ, Matthew W. Rickert and his wife, Rebecca of Glen Rock, NJ; four grandchildren, Mason K. Rickert, Brady M. Rickert, Clayton W. Rickert and Colette P.  Rickert.  He is also survived by the family dog Emmy.

            A funeral service will be held at 12 PM on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington St., East Greenville, PA with Rev. Barry Moyer officiating. Burial follows in Pennsburg UCC Cemetery.
