Thomas E. Mergen
2017-09-22

            Thomas E. Mergen, 80, husband of Barbara Ann (Frattini) Galbraith

Mergen, of Red Hill, formerly of Sullivan County, passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at Grand View Hospital.

            Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late James E. and Mary A. (Heiser) Mergen.

            He was a 1955 graduate of Dobbin's Vocational Tech High School in Philadelphia and completed two years at La Salle University.

            He was in the Navy Reserves from 1979 to 1985 and was a supervisor for Bell Atlantic.

            Thomas was a member of the Boulder Valley Sportsman's Association, Great Swamp Fish and Game Association, and a life member of the NRA.

            A true patriot and avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.

            Surviving along with his wife, are his children, Cheryl Ann Leh of Limerick, Thomas M. Mergen and wife, Cynthia of Kunkletown, Matthew J. Mergen and wife, Melissa of Coopersburg, Keadren D., wife of Frank Petrone of Quakertown, and James T. Mergen and wife, Nadine of Green Lane; step-sons, Kevin Moran and wife, Karen, Steven Moran, and Anthony Moran and wife, Susan; 12 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Kathleen Curcio of Guntersville, AL, Paul Mergen and wife, Louise of Philadelphia, and David Mergen and wife, Lynne of Tampa, FL.

            In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brother, Charles "Chick" Mergen and a sister, Mary Cerami.

            A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington St., East Greenville, PA. Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at the funeral home prior to the service.
