Lois I. Walter-Hammer
2017-08-08

            Lois I. (Reed) Walter-Hammer, 86, wife of Alfred T. Hammer, of

Harleysville, passed away Sunday, August 6, 2017 at Pennsburg Manor.

            Born in Sumneytown, she was the daughter of the late Victor Reed and Estelle (Schaffer) Schrauger.

            She was a graduate of Souderton High School and also attended the Lansdale School of Business. She was the manager of Hallmark Expressions in the Richland Mall in Quakertown for 17 years.

            Lois was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Sumneytown where she participated in church activities, including WAGS. She also participated in a variety of volunteer work including coaching junior bowling leagues and the Air Force Family Services.

            An avid reader, she enjoyed flowers, feeding and watching birds, and collecting owls.

            In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Debbie Stout, companion of James Derr of Barto and Randy Walter and wife, Barbara of Quakertown; five grandchildren, Steve, Cari, Dana, Erin and Ryan; five great-grandchildren and two sisters-in-law, Doris and June.

            In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her late husband, Francis Walter.

            A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at St. John's Lutheran Church with Rev. Charles H. Eiss, Jr. officiating. Burial follows in Frieden's Union Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 10 to 11 am at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to the Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville.  Share memories and offer sympathy to the family at www.mannslonakerfuneralhome.com. 

            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to St. John's Lutheran Church.
