An Upper Salford man wanted by the Upper Perk Police Department for drug and weapons charges has been arrested. Troy Brendon Myers, 29, of Cedar Hill Road, the subject of a local manhunt, surrendered to the department on July 29.

            Myers, who is accused of distributing methamphetamines out of a shed, 

faces three felony counts of illegal illegal possession of a firearm with the manufacturer numbers altered, two felony counts of illegal drug possession with the intent to manufacture or deliver, one count each of escape and criminal use a communications facility; six misdemeanor counts of selling offensive weapons, two counts of intent to possess a controlled substance and illegal purchase of a controlled substance, and one count each of illegal possession of a firearm by a fugitive, an unauthorized purchase of a controlled substance, marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia and one unclassified count of possession of an instrument of crime.

            Charges in the case were filed July 25, according to the police criminal complaint filed in the Red Hill Court of District Judge Catherine Hummel Fried. The document lists Off. James McVeigh and Corporal Jamie Lavin as the arresting officers.

            Working in their capacity as duly sworn special detectives assigned to the Montgomery County District Attorney's Local Drug Task Force, the officers received information indicating that Myers was selling methamphetamines out of his residence and that he commonly possessed firearms, according to the affidavit of probable cause. During the same investigating, the officers discovered that the Montgomery County Probation and Parole Department issued a warrant for his arrest on April 14.

            On July 20, a Montgomery County detective accompanied a methamphetamine client of Myers to his residence and watched the two enter a shed, believed to be the primary area on the property where Myers conducted his unlawful distribution business, according to the legal document. It states that a short time later, the client exited the shed and provided the undercover detective with the substance he purchased from Myers, which tested positive for methamphetamine.

            Four days later, the same detective and customer returned to the same address to complete a similar purchase, according to law enforcement officials. Instead, the detective witnessed the Myers emerge from a garage holding an SKS rifle that made him fear for himself and the other individual, according to document.

            The detective, who watched Myers leave his view and walk towards the shed, notified Lavin and called for an emergency extract, according to law enforcement officials. Within a minute, additional personnel from the Upper Perk Police and the county detective bureau's Narcotics Enforcement Team responded to the scene and discovered another man in the garage who was detained.

            During a search of the property, Lavin allegedly observed the same SKS rifle, loaded with live ammunition, as the detective. The corporal also discovered other methamphetamines, packing materials and the $100 of buy money. A further search of the shed turned up three loaded handguns with obliterated serial numbers, Clonazepam tables, marijuana, packing materials, a digital scale and Myers' cell phone, according to the legal paperwork.

            Law enforcement officials allegedly located and seized drug paraphernalia, such as smoking devices, packing materials, rubber gloves and a digital scale in Myers' bedroom. Two shotguns were located in the basement of the residence, according to the affidavit.

            During a July 29 arraignment, District Judge Gregory Scott set Myers' bail at $300,000. The defendant was remanded to Montgomery County Prison, according to information posted on a state judicial website.

            A preliminary hearing the case has been scheduled for 8 a.m. on Aug. 25 before Hummel Fried, according to the same information.
