Mary Watko
2017-06-09

Mary (Pietruch) Watko, 70, of Red Hill passed away on May 8, 2017

after an extended illness. Mary was born in Summit Hill, PA to Florence (Stanek) Pietruch and the late Walter Pietruch.

Mary was a wife, mother, grandmother and devout catholic who devoted herself to nurturing her family with boundless thoughtfulness and kindness.

As a spectacular cook and baker and an avid reader, she channeled her creativity. She also joyfully volunteered her time as a singer in the St. Philip Neri Funeral Choir. Mary carefully kept track of family and friends, dedicating prayers, remembering favorite dishes and important days, and always staying in touch with a phone call. Generous with her time, energy and attentions, she would go out of her way whenever anyone was in need.

She was a 1965 graduate of Marian Catholic High School, Tamaqua, PA and a 1967 graduate of St. Francis Hospital School of Radiologic Technology, Trenton, NJ.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her beloved husband James, daughters: Joanna (Rick) of Philadelphia, and Maria of Glasgow, Scotland; granddaughter: Khadijah, grandson: Sulaymaan; sister: Janet Bowers (Larry) of Southern Pines, NC; brothers: Walter Michael (Margaret) of Belvidere, IL, Joseph (Bonnie) of Mohrsville, PA, an aunt: Florence (Poremba) Pietruch, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Mass will be held on July 22, at 11am, at St. Philip Neri Church, 1325 Klinerd Rd., Pennsburg.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mary Pietruch Watko Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o Marian Catholic High School, 166 Marian Ave, Tamaqua, PA  18252, or the Upper Perkiomen Valley Library, 350 Main St., Red Hill, PA 18076.

To offer online condolences to the family, visit her "Book of Memories" a falkfuneralhomes.com.
