St. Isidore School Holds Mock Trial - On Thursday, May 4, the seventh and eighth grade students at St. Isidore School held a mock trial with Judge Michael J. Koury, Jr. (center) Judge of the Court of Common Pleas of Northampton County.
The mock trial was based on a piece of literature the students had read, "The Outsiders," and a character from the piece was picked to "try" for the crime of murder. The case of "The State vs. Johnny Cade" was presented by the eighth grade, with the seventh grade acting as the jury.
The literature-based mock trial was an enrichment program through the Rendell Center for Civics and Engagement designed to deepen the understanding of a literature piece while learning about the judicial system.
