Dorothy Ellen (Malloy) Ferguson, 88, of San Marcos, California,

Born July 24, 1928 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Anna (Stuart) Malloy.

Dorothy raised her family in Cherry Hill, NJ and Beach Haven Park, NJ until retiring to Mt. Laurel in 1986. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crocheting, gardening and ceramics.

She loved cardinals almost as much as the Olive Garden and enjoyed her volunteer work at both St. Andrews United Methodist Church and the San Marcos Senior Center.

Dot was a mixture of strong, genuine, charming, witty and warm.  She always made everyone feel welcome like they were part of the family.

She is predeceased by her husband, Richard Ferguson IV as well as a sister, Margaret King, and brothers Vincent, Charles, Joseph, Michael, James and Jack.

Dorothy is survived by her son Richard and his wife Jill (Lind), of Beach Haven NJ; son Gregory and his wife Kathy (Perry) of Nashville, TN; daughter Cynthia and her husband Leon Pennepacker of San Marcos, CA; grandson Richard and his wife Catherine of San Francisco, CA, grandson Sean and his wife Erika of West Creek, NJ, a granddaughter Rachael of Nashville, TN and a great-grandson, Richard VII of San Francisco, CA.  She leaves behind sisters Anne Hierholzer of Louisa, VA and Louise Secrist of Laurel, MD as well as numerous nieces and nephews, whom she loved very much.

A private burial will be held at Seaside Cemetery in New Jersey.  A Celebration of Life will be held in July on Long Beach Island.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the following organizations: Nashville Rescue Mission (www.nashvillerescuemission.org) or Labrador Rescuers of San Diego (www.labrescuers.org),
