Joyce E. Miller
2017-03-27

Joyce E. Miller, 90, of Red Hill and formerly of Pennsburg, passed

away peacefully on March 23, 2017. Born in West Catasauqua, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Elsie (Wenner) Scheirer.

She was the wife of the late Rev. Orville E. Miller. They were married for 56 years before his passing in 2003.

A graduate of Whitehall High School and Allentown Business College, Joyce was a secretary first for the former Bradley Pulverizer Company in Allentown and then in the Placement Office of Franklin & Marshall College. When they moved to the Upper Perkiomen Valley, she worked in the Guidance Office of the Upper Perkiomen High School as a secretary for over 20 years before retiring in 1998. She also worked as the secretary of both St. John's UCC in St. Johns, PA and Pennsburg UCC during the time her husband served as pastor.

She was a long time member of Pennsburg UCC where she sang on the church choir for over 40 years. Joyce bowled in the Upper Perk Valley for many years and enjoyed knitting, baking, playing cards, and following her grandchildren in their sports and other activities.

Surviving are her children: Rodney of Bloomsburg, Harry and his wife Shirley of Oley, Dawn, wife of Kenneth Zipko of Lititz, and Dana, wife of Robert Heimbach of Palm; her grandchildren: Matthew Miller, Paul, Breanne, and Adam Zipko, Alyssa (Heimbach), wife of Alex Soult, and Paula Heimbach and her fiancé Justin Sell; and her sister Carol Mack of Mertztown; and many nieces and nephews. Along with her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brothers: Gerald and Roger.

A viewing will be held on Monday evening from 6 to 8 PM at the Falk Funeral Home, 163 Main St, Pennsburg and on Tuesday from 10 – 11 AM at Pennsburg UCC, 775 Main St, Pennsburg, PA 18073. A celebration of her life will be held in the church Sanctuary immediately following the viewing. She will be interred privately in the church cemetery with her husband.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Pennsburg UCC or to the American Cancer Society. Visit her "Book of Memories" at falkfuneralhomes.com.
