Harold L. “Ben” Benner
2017-03-15

            Harold "Ben" L. Benner, 92, of East Greenville, passed away March 15,

2017.  He was the beloved husband of Gertrude (Alderfer) Benner.  The couple was married 61 years this past October.  

            Born in Argus, PA, he was a son of the late Horace and Katie (Leister) Benner.  Harold is an Army veteran of WWII. He was the owner of Ben's Food Products, in the Upper Perkiomen Valley, which produced Ben's Potato Chips. 

            He was a life-long member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Ridge Valley, where he was past financial secretary and a former council member.  He was a member of the American Legion, Post # 184, Palm and the V.F.W., Post # 5954, Red Hill.

            He a past president of the Red Hill Fire Company, and a social member of the East Greenville Fire Company.  In addition, Harold was a founding member, player, and manager of the Eagle A.A. Softball program, Pennsburg.  He was a former coach of the Upper Perkiomen Little League, and a manager for both the Shamrocks Women's Softball Team and the Patriot Women's Softball Team at the Limeport A.A.

            Surviving with his wife, are children:  Karen, wife of Timothy Britton, Pennsburg; Sandra, wife of David Young, of Palm; and Thomas Benner, and his wife, Jennifer, of Wisconsin; siblings:  Pauline Berndt, of Sellersville; Mabel Eisenhauer, of Elroy, PA; and Ruth, wife of Charles Marx, of Quakertown; and grandchildren:  Melissa, wife of Corey Cosgrove, Jonathon, Amanda, Blair, AiYi, Lily, Nathan, and Charlotte.  He was pre-deceased by siblings:  Pearl & Norman.

            A funeral service will be 1 PM Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church, 910 Allentown Rd, Sellersville.  A viewing will be from noon until services at the church. The Falk Funeral Homes & Crematory, Pennsburg, has been entrusted with services.
