Butter Valley Golf Course 3rd Annual Charity Outing Giveaway

As part of its ongoing support of the community and non-profits around the region, Butter Valley Golf Course in Bally in October will donate the use of the golf course to a charity, entity or person in need.

Over the next few months, Butter Valley will be searching for applicants interested in taking advantage of this outreach opportunity, which could amount to a windfall for any group or individual looking to raise money for a worthy cause.

The date of the outing is to be determined in October, but will be held on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.

The course will be leased, free of charge, to the winning applicant, which will receive all proceeds from greens fees/cart rentals for that day.  How those proceeds are to be generated is at the discretion of the winning applicant's organizing committee, with the approval of Butter Valley's management.

While the marketing, advertising and registering for the day's event(s) will be the sole responsibility of the organization, Butter Valley's staff is more than willing to give guidance and offer tips for any group that hasn't run a golf outing before.

As the course ownership notes, a well-run event should reap great rewards.

"We've always been strong supporters of many local and regional non-profits and organizations, but this is a special opportunity we wanted to create to afford one worthy recipient the ability to raise money where they might not have been able otherwise," said John Gehman, owner and operator of Butter Valley Golf Course.  "It is Butter Valley Golf Course's intent to assist many organizations and individuals over the coming years with this new annual event."

In 2015, For the Love of Donna, a local charity helping support cancer families, was selected to host the outing and held a successful event. "It was a fun day for everyone involved, and we will be able to help several families battling cancer," member Mona Gincley said.

In 2016, the Boyertown State Theatre was able to raise more than $7,500 toward its equipment fund.  "That's a fabulous addition to our fundraising," said BST Chair Kristine Endy.

The winning applicant will be chosen by a committee composed of Butter Valley staff and loyal customers.  To have your charity considered, please follow these requirements:

Fill out a cover sheet with the name of the charity or entity/person in need, contact person, address, phone number, email and website (if available).

In two pages or less, describe why your charity or entity is worthy of consideration for this donation.  Tell us who you are, what you're hoping to accomplish and how the proceeds will be utilized.

All of the above information must be submitted to: Butter Valley Golf Course, Attn:  Charity Outing, PO Box 207, S. 7th St. Bally, Pa 19503

Application packets must be postmarked by April 14.  The winning charity will be announced on May 5.  This allows the entire golfing season for marketing and promotion of the outing day.

Butter Valley reserves the right to request additional information of possible applicants to gain further detail and/or verify information.

Butter Valley Golf Course operates under a Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board License, all alcohol must be purchased through Butter Valley and proceeds from that remain with Butter Valley, along with proceeds from food sales at the Snack Shop/Restaurant and purchases in the Pro Shop.
