Ruth Florence (Ede) Garis, 87, of Pennsburg, PA; formerly of

Souderton passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Pennsburg Manor.

            She was the loving wife of the late Robert Hummel Garis for 69 years. Ruth was born in Westbury, New York to the late James E. Ede and the late Gertrude (Hussey) Ede.

            She was a former supervisor for Aquarium Pharmaceuticals in Chalfont, PA for many years. Ruth was an active resident at Valley Vista Apartments in Souderton. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

            Ruth was an avid reader who enjoyed cooking and especially loved spending time with her family. She was a kind, caring and generous person even up until the end. Ruth was very passionate about her family and was always thinking of them.

            The family would like to extend a special thank you to all her caregivers at Pennsburg Manor and Liberty Hospice.

            She is survived by a son, Robert "Dick" R. Garis and wife, Martha of Neptune Beach, FL; a daughter, Lori Folcarelli of Mansfield, PA, six granddaughters, Kristel Gartner & husband, Donnie of Mcadoo, PA, Nicole McCarthy & husband, James of Collegeville, PA, Randi Lea Flexer & husband, Jason of Zionsville, PA, Sabrina Leibenguth of Orefield, PA, Kendra Weaver & husband, Brian of Quakertown, PA, and Amy Folcarelli & husband, Ryan Welch of Cape Coral, FL; five grandsons, Robert Garis & wife, Jennifer of Kailua, HI, Ryan Garis & wife, Michelle of Ruskin, FL, Jason Garis of New Orleans, LA, Joshua Garis of St. Petersburg, FL and Joseph Folcarelli of Blossburg, PA; fourteen great-grandchildren – Rebecca, Julianna, Kaileigh, Emily, Elizabeth, Aidan, Allison, Luke, Savannah, Colton, Chase, Sophia, Eli and Valerie.   

            In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in death by a daughter, Ruth Cheryl Gartner; a son, Kevin Wayne Garis; a brother, James E. Ede, Jr. and a sister, Jean Ede.

            A viewing will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Souderton Brethren in Christ Church, 494 Cherry Road, Souderton, PA 18964 from 9:30 am - 11:00 am, followed by a service at 11:00.

            Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
