Philip G. Jones
2017-02-06

            Philip G. Jones, 84, of Barto, passed away February 5, 2017 at home.

He was the loving husband of Meredith A. (Haines) Einsele Jones with whom he shared 44 years of marriage on June 10, 2016.

            Born in Pittston, PA, he was the son of the late James and Alice (Van Horn) Jones.

      He was a 1952 graduate of West Pittston High School. After graduating from East Stroudsburg University in 1956, he became a teacher at Upper Perkiomen High School and taught there from 1960 to 1993. Due to his love for all sports, Philip was the head coach of girls' softball; achieving Bux-Mont Champions in 1974, the assistant coach for the UPHS varsity football team for many years and helped coach the Bauman's Bandits Girls Softball where he led them to the 1989 Atlantic Regional Champions title.

      He was also a private pilot, cut grass at Macoby Run Golf Course and was a member of the Hereford Gun Club and Doe Mountain Ski Patrol.

      In addition to his wife, he will be missed by his children, Kenneth K. Einsele of Bradenton, FL and Sherry L., wife of Douglas Bricker of East Greenville, PA; three grandchildren, Corrine, wife of Nicholas Carl, Heather Ursu and John T. Einsele and wife, Elizabeth; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, James Jones and wife, Jean of Punta Gorda, FL.

      In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by a son, John F. Einsele; a granddaughter, Jennifer Ursu; and siblings, Thomas Jones and Grace Kutzmus.

      A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday February 10 at Union Church, 540 Conrad Road, Alburtis, PA 18011 with Rev. Jane Kropa officiating. Burial will follow in Huff's Union Church Cemetery.  Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church prior to the service.  Arrangements are entrusted to Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville, PA.  Offer sympathy to the family on our website at www.mannslonakerfuneralhome.com.

      In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Montgomery County SPCA, 1059 Sweisford Road, Perkiomenville, PA 18074.
