Edmund K. Kuhns
2017-01-10

            Edmund K. Kuhns, 85, of Frederick, and formerly of East Greenville,

passed away on Monday, January 9, 2017 at Frederick Living.  He was the husband of Grace L. (Long) Kuhns celebrating 59 years of marriage on November 30, 2016.

            Born in Allentown, PA, he was the son of the late Norman J. and Mae M. (Kriebel) Kuhns.

            He was a U.S. Navy peacetime veteran.

            Ed was employed as the head custodian at the Upper Perkiomen High School for 25 years retiring in 1993.  After retirement he enjoyed making matchstick replica models to scale of the Upper Perkiomen School District buildings and also many other churches and businesses in the area.

            He was a lifelong member of Palm Schwenkfelder Church where he sang in the church choir for many years and served on the Board of Trustees as a member of the Building and Grounds Committee.

            He served as the President of the Upper Perkiomen Band Booster Club for 18 years and also served the East Greenville Fire Company as a President, Vice President, Assistant Chief, Trustee, and was the last surviving Building Committee member for the present facility.

            Surviving along with his wife is a son, Kenneth S. Kuhns and his wife, Maria of Palm and two grandsons, Terrence and Seth Kuhns.  Along with his parents and an infant son, he is predeceased by a sister, Doris V. Haines.

            A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Palm Schwenkfelder Church, 833 Gravel Pike, Palm, PA 18070 with the Rev. Nicholas L. Pence officiating.  Burial follows in the church cemetery.  Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 13, 2017 at the Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville, PA and also from 10 to 10:45 a.m. on Saturday at the church.

            In lieu flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Palm Schwenkfelder Church, P O Box 66, Palm, PA 18070 or to the East Greenville Fire Company, 401 Washington Street, East Greenville, PA 18041.
