All Absentee Ballots Must be Received by Tuesday, November 8, 8 p.m. in Norristown

            Yesterday, the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas granted an extension to the Montgomery County Board of Elections for receipt of absentee ballots in the 2016 General Election. The Court granted the extension of the deadline from Friday, November, 4 at 5:00pm to Tuesday, November 8 at 8:00pm.

            Both the Republican and Democratic parties of Montgomery County supported the petition.

            Montgomery County Voter Services will expand hours to support those voters who want to return their absentee ballots in person: • Friday, November 4, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.; Saturday, November 5, 9 a.m. – Noon; Sunday, November 6 Noon – 3 p.m.; Monday, November 7 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

            All absentee ballots must be received by the office of Voter Services at One Montgomery Plaza, 425 Swede Street, Suite 602, Norristown, PA by 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 8.

            As noted in the court filing, the Montgomery County Board of Elections has processed more than 29,000 civilian and military absentee ballot applications for the upcoming election by the deadline of 5 p.m. on Tuesday November 1. To date, 15,000 have been received back in Voter Services.

            Many voters have contacted Voters Services concerned that they will not be able to meet the deadline of November 4 to get those ballots back to the Voter Services office at One Montgomery Plaza.

            "We are pleased Judge Moore granted us this extension, so all those who have qualified absentee ballots are able to participate in this process," said Valerie Arkoosh, Chair of the Montgomery County Board of Elections.
