Vets for Vets (VFV), a Pennsburg-based non-profit organization that assists U.S. military veterans and their families, and The Open Link, a social services non-profit that serves people of all ages through its main office in Pennsburg and senior center in East Greenville, are joining forces to help military veterans find gainful employment.
VFV founder/administrator Jake Leone said each veteran will now meet with an employment counselor at The Open Link and complete an employment assessment after being accepted into the VFV program.
Veterans will meet with an experienced counselor who will walk them through everything from realizing their skill sets and which jobs they would qualify for, to how to pitch themselves during an interview.
"We're basically incorporating it into the VFV in-processing checklist. This will include an employment goals review, resume assistance, interview skills training and application follow-up assistance," Leone said.
"This will allow VFV to increase job placement time for our veterans, while enhancing the level of accountability for our veterans in their initial job search and follow-up."
