Quakertown Farmers Market is hosting a fall season of free concerts held on Saturdays (weather permitting) on the outdoor stage area behind the Main Market building.
Bedlam Blues, a Blues Based Rock Band will perform on Saturday, Sept. 24 from 12-4 p.m. Ryan Lee Coates, who plays guitar and banjo, will put in an appearance on Oct. 8, from 12-3 p.m. The Twin Rivers Rounders, a bluegrass band, will perform on Oct. 15 from 12-4 p.m. Bring your own lawn chair. If necessary, concerts will be in the new "Q-Court' located at Exit #4 in Dept #215.
The Annual Winter Coat Drive has begun. The Market is collecting clean, gently used winter coats which will be donated to our local Salvation Army to help our needy neighbors stay warm this winter. Donations may be brought to the Market Office located at Exit #4. The drive will end on Sunday, Oct. 2. Every coat donation helps; together we can make a difference!
Kid's Crafts, held the second Saturday of every month, will be held between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. in the Q-Court, Dept #215 Oct. 8. The children will be participating in a scarecrow making class. The class is free to all children. Children are asked to bring in an old flannel shirt which will be used in the construction of their scarecrow.
The Market and Rite Aid Pharmacies will hold a second Flu Shot Clinic on Saturday, Oct. 8 in Dept #317A between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. The shot is covered by most insurance plans and Medicare Part B.
East Penn Modifiers Car Club will hold its Fall Car Show at the Market on Saturday,
Oct. 15 between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. There will be live entertainment, raffles and door prizes. All cars are welcome, there is a $15 registration the day of the show. Public admittance is free! Proceeds benefit Operation Enduring Warrior and Dylan Thorpe.
Trick or Treat-give me something good to eat! The Market will host the 3rd Annual Pumpkin Pie Eating Contest sponsored by the Secret Ingredient Bakery Dept #245, which will be held in the rear aisle in front of the Bakery and Davis Meats/Exit #10 at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22. Entrants must be 18 or older to participate. Entrants may want to bring along an extra t-shirt to change into – the contest restricts the use of hands when eating! This spooktacular event will award the winner $100 in cash!
Following the Pie Contest, the Market will hold its 12th Annual Best Dressed Pet Halloween Contest at 1 p.m. in front of the stage area located behind the Main Market. Fins, Feathers, Paws & Claws will once again sponsor the contest and award the winners, it is sure to be a howling good time! As a reminder, pets are only permitted inside the pet store.
Calling all ghosts and goblins! The 23rd Annual Halloween Costume Parade and Contest will begin promptly at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29. We will trick or treat throughout the market then go outside to the stage area for costume judging, There are four separate categories: Pre-School, 0-5 years; 6-9 year olds; Pre-Teen, 10-12 years; and the Family Group category. Prizes include a $250 Market Buck Grand Prize winner and three $50 Market Bucket Buck runners up prizes, as well as a $100 Market Buck prize for each of the four age groups and a $25 Market Buck prize for each of the category runners up.
Last but not least, the Great Gobbler Giveaway will commence on Friday, Oct. 28. Enter to win one of 10 20 lb. turkeys which will be given away on the Sunday before Thanksgiving. Enter to win at Davis Meats, Dept #244/Exit #10. You must be 18 or older to enter, gobble, gobble!
