Favre Pleads Guilty to Sexual Assault, Related Charges
Written by Bradley Schlegel Staff Reporter
2016-06-01

A 23-year-old Upper Hanover Townshisp man who pleaded guilty on Wednesday, May 25 to felony charges of aggravated indecent assault of a person less than 16 years old, solicitation to commit statutory sexual assault, unlawful contact with a minor and possession of child pornography is headed to state prison.

Eric Favre, formerly of the 1500 block of Lakeside Road, received a sentence of two to five years in a state correctional facility from Common Pleas Judge William R. Carpenter.  Favre was facing a trial in Montgomery County court on four separate counts of alleged incidents that occurred between October 2014 and May 2015.

The sentence also requires Favre to complete five years of probation, according to M. Stewart Ryan, the assistant district attorney who handled the case.

According to Ryan, Favre will be required to register as a sexual offender for the rest of his life.  The prosecutor said that further evaluation by the Pennsylvania Sexual Offenders Assessment board, will determine if Favre will be classified as a sexually violent predator.  If Favre is deemed violent by the board, he will face additional requirements, according to Ryan.

Prosecutors were prepared to try Favre on the four sets of charges separately if necessary. The prosecutor expressed satisfaction with the outcome.  "Anytime you can avoid having children, who have already been victimized, testify is a good benefit," Ryan said.

Law enforcement officials initially arrested Favre on May 12, 2015, and accused of possessing child pornography. Detectives said Favre later admitted to communicating and having sexual contact with the girl between Oct. 2014 and March 2015.

According to police, Favre admitted to asking the girl for sexually explicit images of her and also sent explicit images of himself. Police said two images of the girl were later recovered from Favre's cell phone.

Favre also admitted to assaulting the girl inside her home, authorities said. The girl corroborated Favre's account of the events, police said.

Favre was also charged with unlawful contact with a minor and sexual abuse of children, both felonies, along with corruption of minors, stemming from incidents that allegedly occurred in January of 2015.  Detectives alleged that Favre solicited child pornography from a 12-year-old East Greenville girl.

Through Facebook, authorities said Favre received explicit images of the girl, and he also sent images of himself.  Favre reportedly asked the girl if she would have sex with him and other sexually explicit questions.

Police said the 12-year-old acknowledged sending naked photographs of herself to Favre.

Favre was also charged two weeks after his initial arrest with soliciting sex from a minor, in this case a 15-year-old girl.

According to Ryan, Favre will be eligible for parole after serving two years in prison.
