A Salfordville man suspected of attempting to hold up a Lower Frederick gas station surrendered to authorities.
Andrew Jamison Way, 24, came to the State Police barracks in Skippack and admitted to his involvement in the crime, according to news release issued Wednesday.
Way faces charges, filed in the New Hanover District Court of Judge Maurice Saylor, of attempted robbery, attempted theft, possessing an instrument of crime, simple assault, reckless endangerment of another person and harassment.
According to the news release, the public helped identify Way on surveillance photos as the perpetrator as the suspect who attempted to rob the U. S. Gas Station on Wednesday, May 11.
Authorities initially claimed that the suspect walked into the gas station and retrieved a can of iced tea. He then approached the cashier and handed him money. When the cashier opened the cash register drawer, the suspect brandished a large knife, shoved the cashier backwards, and attempted to grab money from the drawer.
The suspect then ran on foot, empty handed, from the business. He fled in a gray or silver car which was parked in an adjacent parking lot.
The actor was described as a white male, possibly a teenager or adult in his early twenties. The actor was wearing a green hooded sweatshirt, dark pants, dark shoes, and sunglasses.
