Marlborough Township Police, who responded to a domestic incident on Holly Drive in the township, had Marlborough Elementary School put on lockout Wednesday afternoon after a foot pursuit.
Students were allowed to move about freely inside the school, but no one was allowed in or out of the building at 1450 Gravel Pike, which borders Lakeview and Green HIll Drives, and the Green Hill Mobile Home Park property. Kindergartners, who were just arriving at the school for the afternoon session, had their buses redirected to Upper Perk High School, according to a notice on the Upper Perkiomen School District website.
Marlborough Police said around 12:30 p.m., they arrived at the Holly Drive residence to investigate the domestic incident. Family members reportedly told police the man threatened to harm himself before authorities arrived.
As police arrived at the scene, authorities said the 18-year-old man involved fled out the back door.
According to police, a foot pursuit ensued but the man escaped. After an extensive search of the area, with the assistance of Upper Perk, Lower Salford and PA State Police, Skippack police departments, along with Lower Providence Township Police Department's K-9 unit, authorities were unable to locate the man.
Police, who said they don't believe the man is a threat to others and isn't believed to be armed, lifted the school lockout shortly before 2 p.m. Authorities continued to patrol the area around 3 p.m. Wednesday, Marlborough Police said.
As of Wednesday afternoon, they said they want to check on the man's well-being and don't anticipate charging him with a crime.
Anyone with information on the man's whereabouts is asked to call Marlborough Police at (215)234-9161.
