State police have identified a Pipersville man as the individual killed in a Milford Township accident Friday morning allegedly caused by a driver who ran a red light.
Authorities said Joseph J. Dechristopher, 79, was in a 1999 Chevrolet 1500 pickup on Allentown Road when it was hit in the driver's side by another pickup. Dechristopher was pronounced dead at the scene by the Bucks County Coroner's Office, police said.
According to reports, Kent Hartley, 31, of Philadelphia, was east on John Fries Highway (Route 663) in a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am when he reportedly ran the red light at the intersection of Allentown Road and struck a 2005 Ford F150 pickup driven by Willam Utsch, 47, of Allentown. That vehicle then spun around and struck Dechristopher's pickup, police said.
Utsch sustained a major injury and was taken by ambulance to Lehigh Valley Hospital—Cedar Crest, police said. Dechristopher's passenger, identified by police as David Stewart III, 37, of Quakertown, was unhurt but was transported by ambulance to an area hospital.
Police said Hartley was uninjured, but his passenger, identified as Nicole Stahl, 31, of Pennsburg, suffered moderate injuries and was taken by ambulance to St. Luke's Bethlehem hospital.
Hartley is being cited with a traffic violation, state troopers said.
Milford Township, Sellersville and Richlandtown fire companies assisted at the scene, as well as Milford Township and Pennsburg fire police.
