Quakertown Farmers Market will continue to be "Shopping That's Worth Waiting for the Weekend" for many years to come. Yet, the market has begun a new era of serving shoppers under the guidance of new ownership.
Since early June, for the first time since the mid-1940's, the Quakertown Famers Market and Flea Market or QMART, as it is known by many, has new owners.
A local group of investors has purchased the farmers market and flea market that has been an Upper Bucks County shopping tradition and landmark since 1932. New owners, QFM Associates, LP is comprised of an experienced group of local investors and professionals who each bring their own talents to improving on the attractiveness, appeal and draw the market has had for more than 83 years at 201 Station Road, Quakertown.
First order of business for the new ownership was to calm rumors and speculation that the market had or was being sold to build houses.
"We would like to put those ideas to rest once and for all" said John R. Chism, general manager. Chism further commented, "Through our management company, Quakertown Farmers Market, LP and the current management team, business operations will continue as the Quakertown Farmers Market and Flea Market, but only better."
QFM Associates, LP, utilizing the combined experience and talents of the ownership team is currently developing plans for implementing changes to the market that will improve both the current and future success of all parties as it relates to the continued operation of the Quakertown Farmers Market and Flea Market.
"We are focusing on maintaining the market's personal service that is hard to find these days and the value appeal while implementing modern amenities and shopper conveniences that will move us forward," Chism said.
There will be subtle changes to things like the look of the market's logo, advertising and brand according to new ownership.
"We are working on what our priority areas need to be and will determine what to address first in the near future … the idea is for there to continue to be a seamless transition and for Quakertown Farmer's Market and Flea Market to be a participant in our community," said Chism.
