Milford Man Arrested for Burglary, Truck and Safe Theft
Written by Kelly Chandler Staff Writer
2015-04-30

A 33-year-old Milford Township man is in Bucks County jail after he allegedly burglarized two area homes and stole numerous items earlier this month.

According to state police, Dublin Barracks, Joshua Bogert, of the 2300 block of Mill Pond Drive, allegedly stole a debit card belonging to a woman he was living with in the 2100 block of Mill Pond Road in Milford in late March.  Authorities said Bogert made eight cash withdrawals with that card, totaling $620.

Less than two weeks later, police said Bogert returned to the woman's home at night, while she was sleeping, and allegedly stole a safe hidden inside the house.  The woman said she had $800 in cash inside as well as vehicle titles and other personal documents.  The woman said Bogert didn't have permission to be on her property at the time of the crime, according to court documents.

On April 10 state police were called to Bogert's parents' home in the 2300 block of Mill Pond Drive, where his father reported Bogert illegally entered the home through a second-story window and stole the keys to a 1990 Chevrolet pickup truck.  Bogert then allegedly drove the vehicle off the property, according to police.  Authorities said Bogert wasn't allowed on his parents' property.

The truck was later found in the parking lot of the Trum Tavern in Trumbauersville, according to court papers.

Bogert is also charged with falsely reporting a burglary to police after he allegedly stole the same truck March 5, but told authorities he found it missing from the garage at his parents' home.  In that case, police found the vehicle at the bottom of a snow-covered ditch off Route 663 near Quakertown Road in Upper Hanover Township.

Bogert later admitted to police he stole the truck on both occasions and also stole the safe from his neighbor's home.  Police said Bogert said he took the cash from inside, but burned the rest of the documents.

He was charged with three counts of felony theft, two counts of burglary and receiving stolen property, along with access device fraud, identity theft and false reports to authorities.  He was arraigned earlier this month by Magisterial District Judge Charles W. Baum of Perkasie, who set bail at $5,000, 10 percent, for three of the cases and $30,000, 10 percent, for the debit card fraud and theft case.

He remains incarcerated in Bucks County Correctional Facility in lieu of bail.  Bogert is scheduled to appear in Perkasie District Court for preliminary hearings May 4, 11 and June 15.
