Betty M. Bardman, 90, of Pottstown, wife of the late Ira F. Bardman, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 30 at her home.

            Born in Red Hill, she was the daughter of the late Robert G. and Eva (Gebert) Faut.

Betty was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Pottstown where she was active in Sunday School, Brownies, the Choir, bell choir, ELCA, sacristan and liturgical dance.

            She worked as a crossing guard at Farmington Ave. and 8th street during the 1950's and 60's. Betty was an avid bowler, bowling for more then 60 years in the Reading and Pottstown area and winning many awards and holding many offices. Betty was also a member of the Reading Bowling Hall of Fame. She bowled a perfect 300 at age 56 and many 700 series. Betty is noted in the Nat'l Bowling Record Book as a mother having a son & daughter also rolling 300 games.

            She worked as a bowling instructor at Jay Lanes for 17 years, teaching dozens if not 100's of children and adults in Pottstown how to bowl.  Almost everyone in the bowling community knew Betty. She volunteered for the local AARP chapter, and HEARTH. She was a Meals On Wheels driver for over 20 years and was a Pottstown Cluster Volunteer. Betty also played tennis weekly up into her 80's. She also enjoyed needlework, playing cards, and taking care of her granddaughters.

            Surviving is daughter JoAnn Bardman of Pottstown; son Dennis R. Bardman of Glen Burnie, MD; sisters Jean Faut of Rock Hill, SC and Mary Lou Wentling, wife of Otto, of The Villages, FL; and grandchildren Laura, wife of Bryan Hirschmann, of Aberdeen, MD and Meghan of Charlotte, NC.; and many nieces and nephews. Along with her husband and parents, she is predeceased by her brothers Roger and Linford Faut.

            A funeral service will be Saturday, Sept. 6, 11:00 AM at Grace Lutheran Church, 660 N. Charlotte Street, Pottstown, PA 19464 with Rev. Paul Beck officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Park, Pottstown. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:30AM to 10:45AM at the church.

            In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Betty's name to Grace Lutheran Church at the above address or Meals on Wheels of Pottstown 1976 E. High St., Pottstown, PA 19464.
