All traffic will be affected
Water Street in Upper Hanover Township will be closed to all traffic on a 24-hour, 7-days per week basis starting on Monday, November 18, 2013 and continuing through Friday, December 6, 2013 as work proceeds on the Water Street Culvert Replacement Project.
According to a township press release, the designated detour route for all truck traffic that normally uses the current, designated truck route (Schoolhouse Road, Church Road, Water Street) will be detoured around the project via Kutztown Road and Route 100.
Local Township roads will remain open to local traffic with Water Street completely closed to all traffic at the project area located on Water Street near the first entrance to the Knoll parking lot south of the intersection with the Peevy Road Bridge.
The release notes note that 102-inch twin trailers and 102 inch trailers over 28.5 feet are prohibited on State Route 29 in the Boroughs of Pennsburg and East Greenville. It also notes that State Street and Sixth Street is not an approved truck route to get back to Route 29 due to the low height of the railroad bridge on Sixth Street in East Greenville.
All truck traffic must follow the designated detour route.
