Upper Perkiomen’s Shirk Hired by Pottsgrove
Written by Kelly Chandler, Staff Writer
2013-11-11

Upper Perkiomen High School’s principal, Dr. William R. Shirk, will be leaving for a position in another district.

Pottsgrove School District announced Friday, via a press release, they have selected Shirk as their new assistant superintendent of administration, pending school board approval Nov. 12.

Shirk, who has served as head of Upper Perkiomen High School since 2007, is slated to begin a five-year term January 13, 2014 or whenever he is released by Upper Perk.  His pro-rated annual salary will be $152,500, according to the release.

“I am very excited that Dr. Shirk will be joining our administrative team,” said Pottsgrove Superintendent Shellie Feola via a statement.  “His experience and proven track record as a principal has prepared him to take this next big step.  We believe he will provide outstanding leadership and central office support for the work going on in our schools as we continue to implement our new comprehensive plan for continuous improvement.”

Upper Perkiomen officials, contacted Monday morning, had not yet named a replacement for Shirk.  More information is expected for Thursday’s edition.
