Earlier in October Weis Markets issued a Class 1 recall for several varieties of Weis Quality salads due to possible listeria.
According to a recent report issued by Weis, Garden Fresh Foods, the manufacturer
of these products, has now expanded the recall to more than 30 different deli salads that is
sold by the market.
Weis Markets, including those in the Upper Perkiomen Valley and nearby areas, have removed these products from their shelves and called customers who purchased these products.

The recall was effected Wednesday, Oct. 30, on various ready-to-eat Garden-Fresh
Foods, Inc. products sold under various brands with expiration dates of Oct. 30 through
Dec. 16.
This expansion would be for products produced at the same time period as the USDA
recall that was issued on Oct. 24. The products have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism that can cause serious and sometimes-fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. This information will be posted to the FDA website.
Consumers who have purchased any of the suspect products are urged to return it to
the place of purchase for a full refund.
Currently there has been no illness or complaints related to this recall.
