Barto Man Arrested for Assault
Written by Kelly Chandler, Staff Writer
2013-08-07

Upper Perk Police arrested a Barto man Saturday on assault charges after they said he attacked an East Greenville man inside his home.

According to an arrest affidavit filed by Upper Perk Police Officer Joseph Adam, Bryan D. Olson, of the 5000 block of Longview Lane, unlawfully entered a home in the 700 block of Valley Road in East Greenville around 10 p.m. Aug. 3 and proceeded to assault a man inside.

Police said Olson, 27, punched the man in the face and then put him in a chokehold, causing him to have difficulty breathing.  During the altercation, the man’s wife reportedly tried to pull Olson off her husband and sustained an injury to her right hand.

Police said the victim suffered a bloody nose and minor injuries to his left knee and back.  He was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital where he was reportedly treated and released.

Authorities did not offer any information on a motive for the attack.

Olson was charged with burglary, criminal trespass, unlawful restraint and two counts of simple assault and harassment in Red Hill District Court.  He was arraigned Saturday by Judge Andrea Hudak Duffy of Montgomeryville District Court and bail was set at $10,000, 10 percent.

He was remanded to Montgomery County jail Saturday after being unable to post bail.  He did post bail Wednesday morning, according to court records.

Olson is scheduled to appear at a preliminary hearing Sept. 10 at 3 p.m. in Red Hill District Court.
