Counterfeit Bills Circulating in Lower Frederick Twp.
2020-02-13

The Lower Frederick Police Department has been notified of a recent surge in the use of counterfeit $20 bills being used at both Wawa and Dunkin' Donuts. LFPD will be utilizing resources from the United States Secret Service (USSS) to help identify suspects using their facial recognition software, as well as disseminating photos of the suspects and their vehicles to surrounding law enforcement agencies to assist with identification.

Although there have been multiple suspects using these bills, at least one suspect has been identified and is currently under investigation.  Both Wawa and Dunkin' Donuts are aware of the characteristics of these fake bills, and will notify LFPD when their use is detected.

            This is an ongoing investigation.
